Cape Verde remains the highest-ranked Portuguese-speaking African country in the FIFA rankings, in 73rd place. Portugal climbed to 6th place after winning the Nations League. Angola climbed to 85th, while Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau dropped. São Tomé and Príncipe moved up one position.

Cape Verde continues to lead among the Portuguese-speaking African countries in the FIFA rankings, remaining in 73rd position with 1,343.68 points, according to the latest update released this week.

The Cape Verdean national team maintains its stable position, even after a series of international matches that have significantly altered the global soccer landscape.

Portugal, with their dramatic victory in the Nations League final against Spain (2-2, 5-3 on penalties), moved up to 6th position, overtaking the Netherlands, now in 7th place. Argentina remain top of the ranking, followed by Spain and France. England and Brazil are in 4th and 5th place respectively.

With regard to the other Portuguese-speaking African countries, Angola rose two places and is now in 85th place. Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau fell to 99th and 131st place respectively. São Tomé and Príncipe rose slightly to 193rd place.

The next update of the FIFA rankings is scheduled for September 18, after the return of international matches.
